Lots of EC’s with STEM fields (since I wanna major in that) like Mu alpha Theta secretary, head tutor at mathnasium (a math tutoring service like Kumon for job experience) other clubs ; STEM internship where 30 kids in my county got picked and we get a free college course on coding and create apps and get speeches from STEM field people for jobs ; internship at my dentists office (considering being a dentist) ; Science Museum volunteer (over 500 hours of Community Service + community service award) ; STEM service project with a friend where we make speeches to middle school girls about getting involved with STEM fields

Essays will be killer and have other EC’s but those are them in a nutshell - thanks! also White Caucasian Female from Florida from upper class family (willing for out of state)

So, you need to decide what you want in a learning community. What kind of environment brings out the best in you as a student and as a person? What are your personal and professional goals, at least broadly? What are the ‘must haves’ and ‘can’t tolerate’ parameters? There are roughly 300+ excellent schools and schools with honor programs in the US all of which would be happy to have you.

A few parameters to think about:
size of the school, part of the country, nearness to home, weather, the ‘vibe,’ availability of certain ECs, research opportunities in your areas of interest, job placement in your fields of interest, excellence in your academic areas of interest, the major you want, class size, surrounding neighborhood (urban? suburban? small town?), internship opportunities in your area of interest, alumni network, the quality of the dorms and the food (this seems to matter a lot to some kids), amount of on-campus activity, ease of access to whatever matters to you, % of students who are ‘like you’ in whatever area you think is important (religious, cultural, etc…), single se or co-ed, etc…

Not all of these parameters will matter to you, but if you can develop a profile of the ideal environment, then you are 80% of the way to finding your list of reach/match/safety schools. (Assuming money is no object, which your description of your family leads me to believe.)

Are you a junior or a senior? Have you been able to visit any schools yet? Great ECs BTW!

Have you talked to your parents about what they are willing to contribute to your college costs?

Which majors are of most interest to you?

Look into these very different schools: which ones appeal to you most?
