At the end of July, I visited Vanderbilt and loved it. I loved the campus and feel of the school. Ever since then, I've been doing research into them and psyching myself out. I feel like I'm getting my hopes up only to have them destroyed. Anyways, here's my profile:
Indian male, resident of TN
I have 4.0 unweighted GPA, 4.48 weighted
Currently a 33 ACT with 33s on everything and 32 on math
I have been my high school FIRST robotics team for 4years now and am Design Team Captain this year.
I ran cross country for 2 years in high school.
For volunteering, I have been a STEM camp counselor for elementary school children. It's a 1week long day camp I have done for the past 2 summers, where I get to inspire kids with STEM subjects. I also currently mentor a junior lego robotics team. For 1 week during the summer, I also volunteering at an elementary school helping kids from a lower socioeconomic status. That's the main stuff, I've had some other things here and there introducing kids to engineering.
Through robotics, I get to work with 3D printing. This year, I have an internship with ORNL working with 3D printing and projects dealing with materials science/ engineering.
For AP courses, I have AP Government, AP Chemistry, AP English Literature, AP Chinese, AP Calculus AB/BC. I got 5s on Chinese, Calculus, and Government and 4s on Chemistry and Literature. I'm currently taking Honors Biology 2(which leads to AP Biology) and AP Physics C:Mechanics (which leads to AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism. Next semester, I will have AP English Language and Honors Calculus 3(a new course at my school).
I plan on majoring in either chemical engineering or biomedical. I really want a minor in Chinese and study abroad. Right now, I'm dual enrolling at a community college for a Chinese course. I'm hoping my interest in Chinese will help me out ( I'm the first 5 on Chinese at my school who's a non-native speaker).
My EFC is like $2000, so the financial aid will be good, which is another reason I'm really hoping for Vanderbilt. I'm applying ED1 to increase my chances.
Thank You very much.
