Can anyone tell me if I should put the prompt at the top of an essay?

Hey

I need to know if I should put the prompt (the question) and the title at the top. I'm assuming I just need to put a title but I would like to confirm this. Btw, this is for the Common App and supplementary essays for the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor.

You should post this in the University of Michigan forum. More people would have knowledge specific to that school.

I put prompts on my essays when I was applying. If colleges have a list of prompts to choose from (which is often the case), it makes it easier on the person reading your essay to know which prompt you’ve chosen.

I didn’t when I was applying, so I think either way is fine. I’m sure they wouldn’t object if you put the prompt at the top to be on the safe side.

ok thanks everyone

Also… title your essays.

For the format of mine, I’d put something like

A) Describe a defining moment in your life (or whatever the prompt is).

My Glorious Time To Shine (title)
