I can't kind the answer anywhere and I want to know.

What we know from this Middlebury Campus article (<a href=“ED Admits Comprise 48 Percent of Class of 2017 - The Middlebury Campus):%5B/url%5D”>ED Admits Comprise 48 Percent of Class of 2017 - The Middlebury Campus):

Last year, there were 699 ED I applicants. Of these 295 (42%) were admitted, 156 deferred to the regular pool, and 281 denied. Of those admitted, 274 were admitted for September and 21 were admitted for February enrollment.

Last year, there were 959 total ED (I and II) applicants to Middlebury, and around 345 were admitted ED. Using the numbers from the Campus article above, we can assume that around 260 applied under ED II, and around 50 of them were accepted. Although I did see another report that said that 316 were accepted ED I and II. I’m not sure which is correct. So between 10% and 20% of ED II applicants are accepted (depending on what the correct number are).

I believe part of that rate difference can be attributed to the recruitment of student athletes. Many are encouraged by the applicable coach to apply ED1.
