I have looked all over the website and even used the link posted on CC but I cannot find the CDS for Wheaton anywhere. What does it mean if a college that USNWR ranks 56th doesn't make their data accessible?

First, don’t concern yourself with the rankings. USNWR is a for-profit publication/website. It only survives on newsstand sales, its “premium” (paid) online edition, print advertising, and web ads. It is not some impartial government agency that links quality measures to the CDS or anything else.

Some colleges don’t make the CDS very accessible. You can look at collegenavigator.gov to get a lot of the same information, though–just type in the name of the school and do a search.

My son applied to Wheaton and was very intrigued by it. Seems like a great school.

Make sure you are looking at the right Wheaton (there are two Wheaton Colleges). The one in Illinois is ranked 56. I believe the Wheaton in MA is ranked 60.

I really don’t care much about the rankings. I guess my only point is that it’s not a totally obscure institution and I’m surprised that I can’t find their CDS. It makes it harder to gauge your kid’s chances.

In my experience, schools that don’t publicize their CDS or the average test scores of their admitted students tend to have extremely high admit rates for full pay applicants. That skews their student profile stats lower than they care to admit.

sue22: Wrong Wheaton. MA, not IL

Couldn’t find a good link on line, but I’m heading there (MA, not IL) tomorrow, so I’ll ask. :)
