Can anyone verify this?

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): International Transfer Admissions, undergraduate transfer students, government of kenya

Is what said on this link true?

Wow. Just wow. Hopefully that isn't true.

never heard of that, but it's true that international transfer admission is insanely tough.
transfer admission acceptance rate is already 6%, international should be much less.

As far as I know, this is categorically untrue.

Another answer on the same webpage says that most transfers are international, which I do not believe to be true -- although I didn't know any transfers myself, The Tech profiled a few one year, and they were all domestic.

I passed the question along to Matt, and hopefully if he's not too busy he will reply.

The only person I know who got in as a transfer was domestic and unsponsored.

Matt has spoken!

The information on this site is not accurate. We admit the best transfer students from
our pool; there are no "sponsorship" considerations or "requests" from the US or foreign
governments.

You can read more about the results of this year's transfer admissions process here
and more about the transfer process in general here
.

Ehh.. then who is that Sue Kayton?

Daniel Barclay memorial site
so she is the mother of Daniel Barclay? I didn't know that happened a little over a year ago.

She's listed in the alumni directory as a '78 alum who's a member of the Educational Council, and it does look from her site as though she's his mother.

So she is an EC, but it looks like in this case she is giving incorrect information about the MIT transfer admissions process.

Perhaps it was that way when she went to school there. Thats a long time ago though.
Hopefully someone can get that page corrected so the transfer hopefuls will not freak out because they are not sponsored.

I definitely hope so. It's not good to have incorrect information given out by someone who's affiliated with MIT as an EC.

But Matt knows about it now, so hopefully it will be taken care of.

Kim Hunter, who runs the Educational Council, also knows. This will be taken care of, and the information about international transfers is very definitely wrong.
