Ok so today I made the decision to go to UMich. I still haven't found out how much Duke is giving me in their revised aid package (they are in the process but they take FOREVER to reply)....but my mom and my uncle pressured me saying that Michigan might take away the scholarships they gave me if I don't reply fast enough (I got 20k/year for 4 years engineering and an additional 6k/year after we visited the campus and the director of student affairs asked me what more would help to pick Michigan, I said 6k/year and 3 days later, they emailed me saying they'd do it)...is this true? I thought I had until May 1st...I even sent a letter to Duke financial aid saying I was disappointed and stuff in how slow their process was, etc...

I don't think they would do that. Look carefully through the offer letter and see what the response date is. My ds has had scholarships hanging out there since January and no one has said a peep while he's making up his mind other than sending more marketing and having current students call him to tell him how wonderful the school is.

Yeah...well I guess I made the mistake of emailing Duke financial aid and telling them how disappointed I was with how slow the process was, etc. Oh well, looks like I am going to Michigan.

You get until May 1 to make up your mind.

I would give Duke a call. I called a school we were waiting on a number of times. They were supposed to wend us a revised letter on a scholarship. Turns out they had mailed it, we never received it, bu the FA officer said we were the second ones recently who did not get a letter he had sent out.
