<p>Both the CSS and the FAFSA ask questions about cash bank account balances for the parents and the student. How are these figures verified by the colleges OR are they? Our balances change frequently and dramatically, so don't want them to think I'm fudging numbers.</p>
<p>Schools can ask you to give them a confirmation of the bank balance on the day you filed the FAFSA. You are supposed to put the amount that is actually in your account on the day you file your FAFSA … which is why CC veterans will tell you to pay your bills before you file (make sure any checks are cashed!).</p>
