Can i appeal for more aid?

I am an international student. I got in with a presidential scholarship to WPI. I was really excited but it seems like it is still expensive for me. Is it possible to appeal for more aid. My aid is 22k (18k pres schol + 4k intl schol).

Thanks in advance

Best Wishes to everyone who applied to WPI.

It wouldn't hurt to try I guess, but unless you have a good argument, I don't think they will just give you more money.

I'm not sure about internationals, but I'm planning on appealing for more aid. I got about 20k and it's enough for me to attend, but I wanted to try to see if I could get any more. My dad called them a few days ago and talked to an admissions counselor. She said that I had a strong academic record and everything and to definitely appeal. It apparently takes 2-3 weeks for them to review your appeal. You're supposed to send them an email outlining your strengths and any positive changes that have happened between the time you applied and now. I'd call them before you do, though, and check because I don't know if the policy is the same for internationals.

It works a bit differently for international students. Financial aid is competitive to receive (like a scholarship) and WPI does not meet most international student's financial need. Once I decide that i definately want to go WPI, I will try to talk to them to ask them if they have additional funds (e.g. through a low yield of international students asking for aid). Thanks your help guys. I will be grateful if an international student could comment on my issue.

I am an intl and I haven't heard back about the intl scholarship yet. aww

are u planning on attending? are u choosing it over conn ?

lol,waleedk87. are you stalking me? it's a hard choice because both will come out about the same price. I heard a lot good things about conn, but conn doesn't have engineering, which I need as a back up plan.

hahaha!!! no i'm on the international forum and we discussed about why u didn't get your decision and then u finally said u got in.

Try to appeal if you have a good reason and you really want to attend WPI. Last year I appealed my aid and ended up getting more.

@PrincessPaige76 - are you an international student?

Nope... from MA actually
