Hi, I would like to apply to Cornell as a transfer student. I’m a current senior going to community college next year. I feel like if I wait until march, applying to Cornell’s fall transfer (entering fall of 2022) I would have a better shot because my grades will have longer to show improvement. However, it would be nice if I could apply first this October. If I apply for spring admission first, then get denied, will I be unable to then apply for fall transfer?
Did you already apply and get rejected? What are your stats? Why are you starting at community college (there are several good reasons, but knowing which apply to you would help us give better advice)?
If you are a senior and want to attend Cornell, I do not understand why you would do one semester first at community college.
I applied ED and didn’t get in, probably because of my grades. I had a 3.89 GPA weighted, and no test scores due to covid. I still applied because I had excellent extra curriculars and letters or rec, but got rejected. Since Im doing a duel enrollment, and to save money because I’d like to not pay for somewhere Im not thrilled with, I am considering transferring from the community college I currently take classes with. I’d have chance to improve my GPA and take the SAT/ACT. Thank you for any help/advice!
Hey! I’m kind of in your same boat, too. I just applied ED1 to Cornell SHA and got rejected because I didn’t have enough work experience in the hotel industry.I think that I’m going to apply next spring to transfer in, too, but in the mean time I’m going to find another college that I like. Because Cornell has a 17% transfer rate, I would recommend d you find another school just in case ur request to transfer is denied again. Also, I don’t know what school in Cornell you’re applying to, but that definitely matters. If you do go to a community college for your first year, make sure you ramp up the extra circulars to really show the school you are serious about that subject matter because you do have to write another essay. I am really devastated about the Cornell rejection and have literally been crying for days, but hopefully as time goes on I’ll be able to move on. How are you feeling now?
Thanks for the advice!! My community college has a program that lets me transfer to somewhere, and one of those places I also like, so I do have a backup plan. I really wanted snow, though.
I applied human ecology. I’ll definitely do more hospital/medical volunteering and stuff! I feel disappointed of course but it is comforting somehow knowing that I’ve been through worse and felt worse before You’ll be ok!
