Can I begin CC courses while finishing my high school diploma credits? or g.e.d.?

I was supposed to graduate high school this past June, but because of a year of US History that I failed, and an Art class that I never took, I was 3 required courses/15 credits shy from getting my diploma and walking the stage with my fellow classmates.

The CC I am planning to attend does not require a high school diploma or g.e.d., so I was wondering if I could begin my classes at the CC in order to stay on track with my peers while also completing my HS diploma requirements, or should I get my g.e.d.?

Any other suggestions are welcome, I just need to know the best way to get my diploma without falling behind too far. And would getting a g.e.d. greatly affect my chances into transferring to a UC or private college?

Speak with the people at your local CCC and with your HS guidance counselor about this one. It may make sense for you to take the CHSPE or GED exam and just head straight into community college. There also might be good options for completing your HS coursework part-time while attending the CCC part-time.
