I signed up for Chinese with listening and Writing,
but i didnt really have time to study for writing so i dont feel like taking it.
I know it's possible to substitude tests, but can i only take Chinese and not take writing?

Yes.

If you take both tests though and you want to cancel one, you have to cancel both.

which is a waste of money. your mom will be mad >:O

i heard that u could just... not take the test.. check collegeboard

I'm surprised. They let you sign up for a listening and writing? Usually, they both have to be taken first. Anyway...just take one test...and don't fill out anything for the second one...not even a heading. Double check with your proctor.

wait. if you want to cancel scores, you have to cancel them ALL? You cant just cancel one SAT II, and leave the other 2? (if your takeing 3, that is)

if you fill out stuff for all three, take them, and then want to cancel, you have to cancel them all. unless it is a math test...then you can just cancel the math test. however, i am under the impression that if you don't take a test period...like don't fill anything out AT ALL...then it will not be counted against you...again...double check with your proctor

I had this problem in October with US History and Math IIC. I took the US History and left before the IIC, even though I was signed up for both. Everything turned out fine. IIC disappeared from my score report and I only ended up with a score for US History. Don't go through the mess of cancelling, etc because that's when things get complicated. Take Chinese, then leave. Don't check with your proctor b/c most of the time they really don't know what's going on anyway and don't mark anything on your test form about Writing. Everything will turn out great. The only issue is that you won't get a refund.

Good luck!

If you take the test then decide to cancel afterwards, you have to cancel all. But if you just leave after the test(s) you want to take, it won't matter.

so i signed up for 3 SAT II tests, writing, math IIC, and biology. I decided that im not ready for the biology, and just want to take writing and math IIC. So can i just take those and be super? or will it look bad if i dont take bio or soemthing..

also, what do i tell the proctors, that i just want to take 2 of the 3 i signed up for?

Neelesh - Take the two you want to and leave feeling super. The Biology won't even show up on your score report, so it won't look bad at all.

I honestly wouldn't tell the proctors anything. If they ask how many you're taking, tell them 2. Lots of proctors are just volunteers and really aren't informed about procedural stuff. You risk them making a big deal out of something that they don't even need to handle, or them even giving you wrong information.

thnx guys that's helpful
i guess ill just take chinese and not take writing

Ummmm the curves for chinese are extremely generous....so check you may be able to do well.

are they really? I would expect the chinese to be hard since so many native speakers take it. The percentages suck though.

yes, the curve for chinese is quite generous, the percents aren't.

I’m signed up to take the us, chemistry and math 2 exams. however, i don’t feel comfortable taking the math 2 test, i was planning on officially “cancelling”, but from what i hear, that’s not a good idea… Also, on my ticket the order is chem, math, then history. How do i tell them to give me just the history after my chem? (iv’e only taken one sat 2 before at a time, so now i don’t know what to do)
