Can I Double Major and Study a Year Abroad?

Hey guys! So next year I will be a college freshman and I want to double major in international studies and foreign languages; I also want to study abroad for a full academic year during my sophomore or junior year. Is it possible to do this and graduate on time? I will be entering with at least 28 credits but I don’t really know how far ahead that puts me.

It helps that your majors are what they are! You most likely will be able to, but it really depends on the college or university

Depends to some extent on the college- at someplace like Dickinson, which puts a high value on study abroad, definitely. Your majors are also consistent with an international year, which will help.

I think that would depend on how you could handle all your units? I mean, being realistic about it, you might encounter troubles along the way. How do you plan on going about your study abroad initiative, if I may ask?

Some colleges make it very easy to study abroad for a year because you can take classes in several subjects. Others make it more restrictive. Check out the colleges. Examples of good practices include Dickinson, Kalamazoo, Goucher, St Olaf…

With the proper time management and right dosage of units to take for each academic year I think you’d be fine  best of luck.
