Title. I’ve done a lot of searches but nothing is too clear on this pairing. If I can ED penn and EA chicago, does it affect my chances for either? Thanks!
It’s really not hard to look at the school web sites:
Penn - http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/early-and-regular-decision Supersedes any non-binding EA.
Chicago - https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/apply/applicants/firstyear Open and non-binding
Yes, you can apply to both. Usually only restricted EAs are a problem.
Thank you - and the schools don’t know that I’ve applied to both, correct?
Correct, but why would they care? They know you’re going to apply to more than just that school.
“and the schools don’t know that I’ve applied to both, correct?”
If by chance OP is admitted early to both, then he has committed to Penn.
^ If the Penn FA works for the family, yes.
^true, but unlike RD or an EA school, the family won’t have any leverage to argue for a better FA offer if they don’t like what they see and will simply have to wave good bye to Penn.
Also true, for all ED schools.
