I'm a junior and wondering if I should even bother applying next year. I've heard that Holy Cross looks at the rigor of classes taken. I haven't been in all honors classes. I was in none freshman year and sophomore year only 1 honors and 1 advanced. But I've always got good grades and have managed at least a 3.7/3.8 gpa. I'm pretty much in all honors classes now except for one class i'm in cp and another i'm in advanced. Next year I hope to be taking at least 3 ap classes. Psychology, Bio, and chem. I plan on being in honors for everything else. If I get straight A-s through the rest of this year do you think I can get in? Also what if I have high sat scores? I'm going to study for the sat really hard in the hopes of getting about a 2200 or higher.

I’m no expert, but for any school anyone seems to have a shot if they can present themselves in the right way. With good SATs, essays that stress your strengths/accomplishments/unique experiences, and a little luck, you can stand a good chance.

Any top school is a gamble, even the most likely canditates can be denied; or the most unlikely can get accepted. It is all about how you present yourself.

I think you have a very strong chance if you interview and show sincere interest in attending. If they detect that HC is possibly not your first choice you could be waitlisted or rejected so it is very important to demonstrate serious interest in why Holy Cross for you.
