Okay. So everyone has been stressing about midyear reports and what not. I want to start this thread so those already accepted into college can share their college “miracles.” Like getting accepted with a D on the midyear report or getting accepted into a dream school after being deferred. We all know we need it. I know I do! I’m tired of all these depressing threads.
I can start with my friend getting into UVa with a 1310 SAT (CR, M, W). She gave me a lot of hope.
So you guys are looking, but not commenting. Why? I really want to hear some of your stories, even if they happened to someone else.
I’m in the whole process myself as well, so I can’t really add something personal, but I read this story here on CC about a guy who was admitted into Stanford with 1700 SAT. Pretty amazing. His story was really nice… Felt like some kind of feel good movie

His ECs are super impressive though.
Well, you can consider this as a bump :')
Thanks guys! What really gave me hope after getting deferred from JHU was reading about this girl who had an 1840 SAT and I think it was a 3.5 GPA UW and she got in. She and I have about the same stats, but my GPA is higher.
Congratulations! You found opportunity!
I applied to a school via early decision with 2 C’s on my transcript and a D on my midyear report in one of my math classes (granted, it was an IB class). I ended up getting accepted.
@Lachicabuena, that is so amazing and I’m freaking out about one C+ on my mid year report.
Applied to Vandy EDII with six C’s and a 3.08 UW. Accepted, yoooo!
My anecdote pales in comparison to his, haha. Congratulations, wiz!!!
@wiz that is amazing! My friend applied with a 4.0 GPA and a great SAT and she was rejected ED. So your news is great. I hope I can have a miracle on April 1st.
Same, I’m just hoping for a mircale. I’m constantly repeating in my head that if I get accepted, I’ll just be so unbelievably happy. It might seem a bit dramatic, because college really isn’t the determinant of happiness, but for me it would just be such an accomplisment! I’ll be like a grateful type of happy I guess.
Good luck to all of you btw!
@zouli I feel the same way. Getting into my first choice would make me thankful, but it is an accomplishment at the same time. I have so much I want to fulfill in life and getting into college is the next thing I need to check off.
Good luck to you as well!
I applied super early to a rolling decision university and got accepted!
Now, after being accepted for around 4 months, I am dramatically bored with high school and my grades are falling.
What should I do?
Take your mind off of graduation and getting accepted. The worst thing you can do is pay attention to those things because it leads to failure.
I would advise you to not slack off and fail. You never know you might get rescinded. No college wants slackers. Also, if you get into that habit, how are you gonna perform in college with all those distractions and parties? don’t let your brain zone out. I’m not saying you have to get all A’s but try to stay in the B range. That’s my advise…
@jujumak, thanks for the advice. I want to say good luck to you all. Most decisions come out in about three weeks. Excitement!
My friend got into SUNY New Paltz with a 400 on the math section of her SAT. She also dropped math junior year, even when New Paltz said that students should take at least 3 years of highschool math. And she only has 1 AP lol. She was so happy when she got her acceptance!
That’s really amazing. It kind of takes us away from the 4.0UW, 2400 SAT, and infinite amount of APs that CC makes us think we need.
