Can I get a review of the CS Department at Chapman?

Is Chapman generally good at teaching the CS students the skills they need in a dynamically-changing technological world? Are people able to gain good jobs from the skills they attain there? Are the classes small?

Biggest question of all: Are the classes worth something or anything to you? Do you feel you got anything out of them?

I don’t recommend Chapman for computer science. I’m sending you a pm with specifics. I don’t want to get too negative on a forum because other departments at Chapman are spectacular and so is the school.

I know this is an old thread, but it is telling when you look at any threads on any of the sciences at Chapman - there is just nothing to them. Hope that is not reflective of the programs…I would think Chapman would have someone mindful of this, know they are all about Dodge and liberal arts, but thought they were looking to strengthen other areas as well. So I will ask the question again that someone else asked back in November, “Is Chapman generally good at teaching CS students the skills they need in a dynamically-changing technological world?”

Just came across this, looks like it’s an old thread, but perhaps I can shed some light into the Chapman’s Computer Science program. Since I’ve attended the Chapman’s commencement ceremony at my child’s graduation just two weeks ago in the film program, I’ve noticed in the commencement program, there are 14 candidates for the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science for the class of 2014. Looking good. From what I understand, the undergrad sciences at Chapman is quite strong, their graduates are admitted into medical schools, pharmacy schools, optometry schools, etc.

For anyone who is interested in the sciences should go to the Chapman’s link to look up the requirements for their program.

Here’s one of their computer science links: <a href=“Chapman University (redirect)”>http://www.chapman.edu/scst/undergraduate/bs-computer-science.aspx

According to their computer science link: “Graduates have gone on to work for a wide variety of companies including Google, Smith Micro Software, Boeing, and Obsidian Entertainment. Others have gone on to earn advanced degrees at wide range of top programs from UCLA to The University of Edinburgh.”

Hope this helps.

Appreciate the response @ocelite. Daughter likes Chapman, we have done the general tour and Dodge, just didn’t go there with the CS lens on so trying to get more info on that. (She’s a theater kid with strong math/science skills so still soul searching.) Good idea to line up their CS requirements and compare to someone like USC/UCLA and see how they differ. Will also try to get her down there again to talk to someone in CS. Small amount of grads in the program which could be good or not, but will check into it. Thanks for insight.

@WhatIsNormal‌ can you PM me?

Also, can anyone give a review of the CS program please? bump
