Can I get federal aid for one school match for another school? If so, how?

I got more federal aid for one school than I got for another. For instance while I got 3895 in Federal Pell Grants from UMASS Amherst, I only got 3695 for Boston College. Also, I got 1500 in Federal SEOG from Northeastern and only 400 from BC. I also got a Mass Grant of 300 and BHE Grant of 500 when those things weren't even listed in BC's fin aid package. Am I not eligible for it at BC? My family isn't financially stable right now and I can use all the aid I can get.

You need to talk to the financial aid office at BC. The PELL is universal, but fin aid officer are allowed to change the FAFSA if they see something they feel is out of line or an error. Don’t know if BC did this, but you should know the reason for the discrepancy in PELL Grants, and really understand how BC came up with your package. I have no idea what the Mass Grant and BHe Grants are.

However, the SEOG is something that varies from school to school as to how much a student gets. It’s not formula driven as PELL is. It 's not an entitlement. Some schools have zero in SEOGs, some have a lot. They distribute it as they feel fit, and there is no way to tell how they do so. It’s just another fund they use for to meet need. Perkins loans also work that way and so does Work Study. It’s normal to get different amounts from different schools for those awards, and even get nothing of any one of them.

Thank you, you were a great help! : )
