I am currently a freshman at Boston University. I know I should be asking the appropriate people here at the school, but asking here is a little more convenient and I'm really just asking casually.

I didn't get any financial aid when I was accepted, but can I still apply for financial aid down the road, maybe after this year? Just because I didn't get any financial aid originally, does that mean I'm stuck with 0 per year for the next 3 years?

"Enrolled students who have not previously received University need-based financial aid are encouraged to apply if they will need assistance with educational expenses. Although priority for available funds must be given to eligible renewal applicants, limited grant funds are available for new applicants who meet all eligibility criteria."

It means that you can apply again. But funds are typically used for returning students first.

Are you looking for need based money or scholarship/grant money (merit)? You might want to check to see if there are any departmental scholarships in your major for upperclassmen.

If you are looking at need based aid, and your family's financial situation isn't very different, it's not highly likely that you will get more need based aid in future years. BUT you should absolutely apply. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. AND make an appointment and talk to someone in finaid in person. Explain your situation...see what they can offer for ideas.

Absolutely apply. If nothing else, you will qualify for Stafford non subsidized loans. If your family income is low enough to qualify for goverment funds, you will get those. BU is not generous with its own money in giving financial aid. I suggest you start the process early and talk to the folks in FA. If they see your face and your involvement, you will have a better chance of getting monies.

Apply, but realize that BU is known for being stingy with financial aid even for entering freshmen. I suspect that the higher your grades are and the more impressive are your campus EC achievements, the greater the change that BU will find some aid for you if their calculations indicate you're eligible for need-based aid.
