Do we have to apply for fafsa

^^^^^^ so yea, does anyone know becuase i know i wont get any aid, and i dont want to waste my time

um you should apply anyway. If you want to be eligible for any merit aid I think they need at least some of that information anyway. and don't be so arrogant as to pass up the opportunity at easing the burden

you don't have to. i didn't apply because i knew i wouldn't get anything and everything worked out just fine :)

You are not considered for any merit scholarship if you do not submit the FAFSA and CSS. Unless you are prepared to pay entirely out of pocket, I would take the time to fill it out.

Also certain non need based student loans such as the unsubsidized Stafford require you to have submitted FAFSA

My understanding (from looking at website and calling school) that not all of BU's merit scholarships require FAFSA/CSS. The Dean's Scholarship (10000; "little or no calculated financial need") and Founders' Grant (5000; "minimal calculated need") DO require FAFSA/CSS (hence the word "calculated"!). Certainly worth a shot at 10,000 bucks if your stats are within reach. Check the BU site for details on the stats for average scholarship recipients.

Most of BU's merit scholarships require the completion of the full financial aid information which includes the FAFSA and the Profile for incoming freshmen. Of course all need based aid requires both forms be completed.

Do you have to turn in photocopies of your taxes? I couldn't find that on the website.

Under the financial aid section of their website, it says this (but doesn't have any deadline):

Federal regulations and University policy require verification of information used to determine a student’s eligibility for financial aid.

You will be asked to provide verification of your and your parents’ income after U.S. federal taxes have been filed. The requested documentation will include:

A complete copy of your U.S. federal income tax return *
A complete copy of your parents’ U.S. federal income tax return *
Copies of all of your parents’ W-2 forms
Verification of any untaxed income
If you and/or your parents do not and are not required to file with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.), an Income Verification Form, with a statement of non-filer status, will be required.

As actually submitted to the I.R.S.

I got a call from them and asked and they said I only have to turn photocopies in if I'm admitted but not before.
