there is no ilr ed

you can apply early to ILR (as with all of the colleges).

so what do you guys think?

you'll probably get in...but the thing with any program is the essays...HOW DOES THE PROGRAM (IN THIS CASE ILR) FIT WITH WANT YOU WANT!?

for example...i come from baytown, texas (home of the largest exxon refinery in the USA)...a working class town and i wanted to learn about workers!

well- i want to get the best education in terms of learning about what makes America the most powerful nation/economy in the world (industry obviously) so that would be my focus in terms of the essay question of "why ILR?"

if you dont mind, why do u think i can or wont get in? i know my test scores arent so brilliant but my ec's kinda even it out i hope...again any advice u guys give will help me loads-thanks again

"you'll probably get in..."

I'd have to disagree with that, just like i'd disagree with any such statement regarding admission to any Ivy League school! For, taking in personal experience, my friend and I both applied early to ILR (he had a 34 ACT, I had a 28), I got in and he didn't!

Yea, it might sound crazy, but aside from the fact that my essay was much better than my friend's and that i had much more meaningful activities, you just can't make such random predictions, especially regarding these 8 great schools!

Aside from that, cJ1212, I would say that you have a competitive shot at gaining admission to ILR, but nothing is guaranteed. One thing for sure is that you need to show "you" in your essay and why you'd be an excellent match for the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

And there is an emphasis on "excellent" match, especially now since the admissions rate for Cornell University is expected to break its all-time low set this year (with six of the seven undergrad colleges, including ILR, are expected to again see an increase in applications!)

alright, thanks for the advice, i ll be sure to write abou that
anybody else have a take on my chances?

make sure you apply to other similar programs...i think upenn or penn state has a similar program to ILR..

trsut me essays help alot...
i got in ED because of my essay...show how well you love ILR

well, not always...i wrote 3 essays that have absolutely nothing to do with ILR and i got in (although i got rescinded later for some other matter and they gave me a GT instead)

just curious, how did you get accepted and then have your admission rescinded? what's the legality behind that? just curious

your weighted GPA is ridiculous. and your ACT is ehhhhh. good courseload and solid EC's. i'd say you're right on the border. a solid essay and good recs good get you through.

alright, so is the general consesus among you guys that my stats (scores/grades/ECs) are good enough to where if my essays are all very focused and consise that i have a good solid shot at getting in ED? wow if i got in-that would just make my entire senior year only about 10,000 times less stressful than it could be

p.s.
what school is at Upenn that is similiar to ilr?

I agree with the posters above. ILR is tricky because you can't base it purely off stats. I'd say that if you prove that you are a great fit your stats are good enough for you to get in. So show em u really wanna be there and I'd say you have a chance to get in. Best of luck!

alright, i ll definitly take a lot of time on those essays then...anyone else? and advice/feedback is really appreciated
