Is it possible to get into Upenn with a 3.7 GPA (unweighted)
Is it possible? Yes.
Is is likely? No.
UPenn is a reach school even for those with a 4.0UW and a 36 ACT score.
I did, so it’s possible, though I’m DEFINITELY an exception. Basically of the other admits I know had 4.0 UW or very close to it.
I had a VERY low GPA freshman year (due to circumstances I had my counselor detail in his LOR) and showed a solid record of improvement, by both taking harder classes and getting good grades in those courses. I also invested a lot of time in my standardized tests and extracurriculars to try to “make up” for my low overall GPA, though it’s good to remember that the kids with higher GPAs will be doing that as well.
Like @isrk02 said, UPenn is a reach school for anyone, so I’m not trying to get your hopes up. However, you can increase your chances by doing better/improving throughout high school (rather than maintaining the 3.7 or getting worse) and doing well in other areas such as your SAT/ACT, extracurriculars, volunteer hours, etc. Hope this helps and good luck!
