Hi! USC is my dream school. I scored (super score) a 720 in math, 680 in English, and a 570 in reading. I have a 3.9 Gpa with many AP's. I do lots of community service and will be ASB Vice President. My sister also attends USC. I am pretty scared my reading score will be the deciding factor whether I get in or not although I am applying to the engineering school. Any word on my chances on getting in?

USC: Reach

How will your recommendations be? If you have good ECs you can get in. I think reach if not. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1529081-chance-uri-unh-uconn-nyu-bu-cornell-brown-upenn.html

My recommendations are very good luckily. I do lots of community service also but am unsure how much the SAT is put in toll during decision time. Thank you for your responses

you could try to take the act, some do better on that than they do on the sat
as of now usc-reach but only because of that sat score

I think you’ve got an excellent chance just play up the leadership position! Chance me!

You seem like you have many ECs and great grades. There is a very high chance you wil get in at least one of those schools (for sure on UCLA).

The good news is that your GPA is very strong; the bad news is that your SAT is below the 25th%-tile. Furthermore Viterbi is rumored to have higher statistics than ‘regular’ SC. I think you have a chance though I’d approach USC as a reach. In other words, have other options that are easier to get into and where you’ll be happy.

Thank you! Luckily I will be taking the SAT and ACT before I apply and have been studying and reading many books to improve my speed and understand. I appreciate all your incite.

Everything besides your test scores looks good. Get up to 2100, 2200 or so, and I think your chances will be pretty great.
