Can I get in?

Chance an overeager sophomore :)

Gender: Female
Ethnicity: White
School: Catholic School in MA
Intended Major: Nursing
UW GPA: 3.3
W GPA: 4.1
EC: National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, SADD (2 Years), Newspaper (2 Years). I also hold a part-time job year round.
Volunteer Experience: 400 Hours
SAT: 670 CR, 540 Math, 620 Writing (I'm retaking them next year, I just wanted to try them)
ACT Composite: 28.

I'm only a sophomore, and I'm in Honors 1 courses. (My school has 5 levels instead of 4). Should I move down a level to bring my UW GPA up? What should I do to increase my chances?

Also, does anyone know of any colleges that I should consider? Safeties or matches? I'd prefer that they be in Boston.

bump…

UConn emphasizes the SAT for out of state students. I don’t dispute that your ECs and GPA are very strong, but as you are only a sophomore and have time, I would urge you to retake the SAT and get a higher score.

I’d say as of now that you have a good chance due to your high accomplishments, but if you raise the SAT just a bit higher–I would guarantee you’re in.

Good luck–and as you are a sophomore, relax! You have MUCH more time to take the SAT and don’t worry too much, fellow Massachusetts resident :)

Definitely retaking them, I just wanted an idea of where I stand. Thank you!

I think you’re in. Your ACT is pretty good for UCONN.
But getting it up a little can’t hurt.
