So I’m wondering if I am able to get into schools such as Choate, St. Andrew, Lawrenceville, etc.
My percentile for the ssat was 66 so I’m really worried I can’t get into any of the schools I want to get in. Do u guys think I have a chance?
Also, all my percentile scores are around the same for all subjects, and I’m not really good at one subject.
The school will look at the total application. There are many kids at competitive boarding schools with those type of scores and many with really high scores. Just present your best package with essays, recommendations and a good interview. I would also say that given your scores you need to expand your list. Even if your scores were 99% there’s no guarantee you would get into any/all of the schools you listed. Also, I think you have some time to take it one more time. You might be able to bring it up a bit and that could help you.
I’ll say this…I think you’ll have to bring some “hook” or outlier-level talent/skill to the table to be admissible to any of the schools you mentioned.
As noted, even a 99% score isn’t a guarantee, but I certainly like the 99% scorer’s chances better than a 66%-ile scorers, all other things being equal.
The schools want to know that you can do the work. And your scores don’t necessarily support that. Perhaps use this opportunity to expand the range of schools you’re considering applying to?
