I am a senior in high school and i really want to get into NYU but for freshman year and the first semester of sophomore year I had terrible grades (Ds, Fs, and a few Cs) due to a lots of problems and family issues. I was very unhappy and depressed and even suicidal so I could barely focus on school. Eventually things got better and I was able to regain my focus and determination and I started getting mostly straight A's and the occasion B and i was getting involved with various extracurricular activities. I also am also a low income minority and a first generation college attendee and I think I can write an impressive enough college essay if they can look past my bad grades. Do you think I have a chance of getting accepted into a top college?

By minority you dont mean asian right…cuz it really sucks to be asian…but i dont think we can make give a good answer without your SAT/ACT scores
