Can I get into BYU (Brigham Young University)?

<p>BYU is definitely top 3 for accounting and I was wondering what my chances are for getting in. Im a junior in a competitive public high school by the way. </p>

<p>SAT (I only took it once, and this will probably be my highest): 2130, Verbal:640, Math:740, Writing: 750
GPA/Grades.
I think my GPA is around 3.83 so far unweighted. </p>

<p>9th grade:
English (9th Grade Lit (REGULAR)) - B/A
Math (Geometry) - A/A
Science (Biology) - A/A
Language Other Than English (Spanish I) - A/A
Band: A/A
PE: A/A</p>

<p>10th grade:
History (World History) - A/A
English (World Lit) - A/B
Math (Algebra 2/Trig) - B/B
Laboratory Science (Chemistry Honors) - A/A
Language Other Than English (Spanish II) - A/A
PE: A/A</p>

<p>11th grade:
History (AP US History) - B/probably B
English (American Literature Regular) - A/A
Math (Pre-Calculus Honors) - A/A
Laboratory Science (AP Chemistry) - A/B
Language Other Than English (Spanish III) - A/probably A</p>

<p>Not 100 percent sure what my GPA is now, but what are my chances of getting into BYU for accounting.</p>

I think you have a good shot considering your grades. also depends on your AP scores and teacher recs.</p>

<p>no, our school didnt offer a honors or AP history class till 11th grade, and thats when I took AP us history</p>

<p>You look pretty good for BYU. Maybe bump the SAT up another 50-70 points. Nothing much. Remember to get your EE sometime early in the fall.</p>

<p>There are MANY schools that have just as good or better accounting programs as BYU and that you would be able to get into given your stats.</p>

<p>@soze, aight where? notre dame, i dont think so. are the other schools have a really low acceptance rate.</p>

<p>Have you truly researched BYU? Do you understand the honor code? There are a lot of rules and little things that aren’t allowed, such as abstaining from, caffenated beverages and alcohol, specific dress code, curfews for opposite sex visiting the dorm. And it’s enforced, it’s serious. You need to make sure you can live by those rules for the next 4 years.</p>

<p>@soze, BYU is better than ALL of those universities for accounting, except maybe boston college, but thats hella expensive and i plan to finance for college myself. BYU is definitely in the top 5 for undergrad accounting, and the only ones higher are really selective like u of chicago and notre dame.</p>
