Can I get into East Carolina?

I just applied to East Carolina University and was wondering what my chances are. I'm from New Jersey. I have a 2.8 unweighted GPA (3.3 Weighted) and scored a 620 Critical Reading, 580 Math, and 580 Writing (1780) on my SATs. I am an Eagle Scout and attended New Jersey Boy's State (a prestigious government and leadership summer workshop that you cannot apply for, but must be selected). I started a bipartisan movement/club at my school whose aim is to educate the Youth of America so that they can become better leaders and learn more about current issues/events. I have done an immense amount of community service. I also received a bad concussion my Junior year in a horrible skiing accident that caused me to miss a fair bit of school. I can get a doctors note saying that the concussion did affect my grades (My grades the semester after the concussion are what brought down my GPA). I also have received 14 college credits for 4 different college courses that my high school offers, and am currently enrolled in another that will get me 4 more. I also am a first generation college student. My intended major is Political Science or Broadcast Journalism. If you have any other questions about my credentials, let me know. Thanks!

Also, I've been the captain of my high school's Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track teams for the past few years. I'm also a member of our varsity debate team.

ECU: Match

Your GPA is a bit of a problem, but I think your SAT score will make up for it. I’d say you have a good shot.

You’ll definitely get in. Especially with that high SAT score; they’ll love that. Keep in mind ECU’s trying to cut back on admissions so it’s really important to apply early. I’m talkin as soon as the application comes out (Sept. 8).

Good luck!!
