I would say you definately have a shot. No guarentees of course, but your credentials are fairly impressive. Maybe scoring well on the ACT would improve your resume even more.

Straightforward question, so straight answer: in all liklihood no. We need clas rank but I'm guessing you would tell us if you were val or sal. Your CR is quite sub par. You appear to be from NYC. Solo at Carrnegie Hall appears on most Asian applications from NY, their teachers rented the space too.

Look at it this way, are you one of the top applicants from NYC? You don't mention a hook. To be unhooked, Asian and get in from NYC, you would have to be truly exceptional in terms of stats and ECs.

You'll get into some really good schools, probably even some top 10 schools. I have to say though that you're chances at Harvard don't look great.

Ok, I'm going to assume that the specialized school in NY is, like most specialized schools in NY, vastly superior to 98% of US public schools and that you are more accomplished and smarter than the vast majority of public school vals and sals (especially because a lot of schools have 15 of each).

That said, your CR score is a little low and because the writing section is a bit iffy these days as far as whether or not colleges count it you need to bring it up a smidge just to optimize your chances.

You've got a shot, certainly. But, like most kids, I would not be surprised if you were rejected.

If you go to Stuy, Bx Sci., Hunter, etc., the biggest factor is who else from your school and the other magnets is applying. Each school will only take so many from that group and they are your competition.

NOBODY is a shoo-in at Harvard. My lord, ProstpectiveMD, do you have any idea what you're saying?

You're at the point where it's a dice roll as to whether or not you'll get in. Personally I feel a 2220 is fine and there's no need to retake--it all depends on your essays and recs now. Good luck.

my passion is music. i practice 3-5 hours everyday regardless of how much work i have usually.. so i hope colleges realize that i followed my passion.. and obviously ill really talk about it thoroughly in my essays. music helped me a lot mentally..
