Hi, I'm a high school freshman and I was wondering if anybody could tell me my chances of getting into Princeton.

I go to a regular public school in a small county in Virginia. I am taking all honors classes this year because you can't take AP classes until sophmore year, but I will then. My school has weighted gpa but unweighted my gpa is 3.741. I am in multiple clubs and I aim to be the leader of some of them.

I am female, African American, and in a single income(father) middle class home. I haven't taken SATs yet so thats about all the information I have, but based on that what do you think my chances are? Princeton is my dream school, so please tell me anything I need to do. Thank youuu! :)

You are a freshman so you have a couple more years to see how good a student you can be and how committed you are to your community and your EC activities before assessing if you are a candidate for a highly selective college. If you have talent and abilities, spend time developing them. You also will have time to read about and explore a variety of colleges. Most importantly, you will be able to identify at least one safety school.

If, when you are a Jr, your gpa and sat scores are in the range of accepted students, and you have some impressive accomplishments, you can look up the previous year admit rate for Princeton and that will tell you your chances.

At this early stage, may I suggest you also expand your criteria beyond “names”. Princeton is fantastic – but so are about 50 other schools that I would doubt the student could tell a difference. Why would I say this? That’s for you to discover. Good luck.
