Thank you!

I think you’re in good shape for UMich, and the others I don’t really know enough about. You should work on improving your grades in your AP, IB, and Honors courses to demonstrate that you can handle a rigorous curriculum and so that your downward trend doesn’t get any worse.

The number of community service hours doesn’t mean much, so make sure you’re able to describe your community service endeavors when you’re filling out your applications and make it clear that you actually did something more than rack up hours.

Are you an IB Diploma candidate? If so, this will help you out a ton at UMich. If not, you should be taking AP classes instead of IB classes where you have the option, as IB classes are usually more difficult and won’t get you as many college credits. IB certificates are worthless, as you can get them without passing the exams.

You’re in-state for UMich. I’m pretty sure you’re in. Not sure about others

No. Just no. UMich has changed its admissions policies a lot in recent years and is getting much more selective. And remember that whenever a school expands the representation of out-of-state students, it gets harder to get in as an in-state applicant.

This happens all the time on CC, and it’s just as ridiculous every time. Most people asking for their chances don’t really know what they’re talking about, which makes the entire idea of chance-backs stupid. And yes, sometimes it’s just helpful to have an outside opinion, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of the people asking for their chances are asking because they really don’t know and therefore aren’t going to help much in telling you your chances, either.

Oh, okay. I’m sorry. I guess I just had an opinion of my own. And I really only post the “chance me” thing because it’s important to me. And if you don’t want to chance me, it’s ok. But I’m nervous, I have little to no clue on what I’m doing [like everyone else, basically], and I just want whatever guidance I can get. I apologize if it irks you.
