Can I get into these colleges?

Hello! I would like to know whether I would be accepted into these colleges: Harvard, UPenn Wharton, UMich Ross, Yale, UC Berkely, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, NYU Stern, Georgetown, UT Austin, Brown, and Princeton with the following stats:

Tests: 1580 SAT, and a 5 on all of the following AP tests: World, AB Calc, BC Calc, Chem, APUSH, Seminar, Statistics, Biology, Euro, Psych, Research, English Lang, Gov and Pol, Spanish Lang, Micro Econ, Macro Econ, Comparative Gov and Pol, Human Geo

Awards/Honors: First USAJMO qualifier in my state, National Merit Finalist, National AP Scholar, First Certified Young Investment Analyst from my state. For my last award/honor, my state has this program where I can graduate with an A.A. in business management from the state college along with my HS diploma, so I did this as well.

Activities: Attended PROMYS, Notre Dame Summer scholars and studied accounting and marketing for the common good, attended Economics for Leaders, I founded a program that taught elementary school students math, I did the marketing for a company for 2 years, President of the national business honor society, ping pong club,

Writing: I can’t really put entire essays here, but just assume that these are mediocre.

Other things: I am from an underrepresented state and am an asian male.

Can I get into these colleges?

Yes

You can also get rejected from them.

You should assume mediocre results unless you are being deliberately self-deprecating.

What is your GPA (both unweighted and weighted)? This is far more important than your test scores. Does your school rank?

How are you already a NMF? Are you taking a gap year? Have you already applied to these schools

What is your intended major?

(And hopefully you’ve already checked if these schools are affordable and have other less reachy schools on your list).

My GPA is 4.0 UW and 4.36 W(my school considers an AP class worth 5/4 and that is all they weight). My school doesn’t rank. What is a NMF? My intended major is accounting/econ/finance depending on what majors the schools have.

So off the charts academics, bravo to a great HS career. Did you really get 5s on 19 AP exams??? That certainly is an accomplishments. I have no doubt that you will get top marks under academic evaluations. The big questions would be how you come across in your essays and other ECs as a person outside your academics. Do the schools view you as just someone that is only taking the great educational opportunities from the schools or are you someone that is an active member of the campus community?? If they asked the question where is @college165 when he’s not in class or studying?

If by NMF you mean national merit finalist, I am just predicting.

Yes, I got 5’s, but I thought it was 18 exams.

I would probably reply to that question with playing ping-pong.

between the 18 APs and the AA degree have you looked to see where you may be able to finish up a bachelors early? State flagship for 2 years then roll into a top graduate school? You might be able to be done with a masters in 4 years instead of just a bachelors.

Possibly, but I really want to go to the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton, for my undergraduate, but I don’t know if they would accept the AA credits from the state school I got them from.

Attending PROMYS increases your chances at these highly selective schools meaningfully. Most of their alumni end up at schools on your list. If you can show that you are also a kind and caring member of society in your application, your chances are likely higher than for most. If you sound too robotically intellectual in your essays - your intellect is more than proven - that could hurt you. But PROMYS - both getting in and completing that rigorous program - is a big deal.

I created a free math tutoring service for elementary school kids to prepare them for mathcounts/amc, which I thought was enough to show that I am a good member of society. Is it enough?

You have a great profile but these majors are really not alike. For example, if you want to be an accountant and pursue your CPA, you have to go to a school with an accounting major.

Penn, and many similar schools, will not accept your dual enrollment classes for credit. First-Year Admission | Penn Admissions

I know, but some schools don’t have some majors, so I would just choose one of those. I would also like to double major, so I might choose 2 of those if there is the option.

How much else is just predicting? Have you really gotten 5s on all these APs or are you including senior year courses that you haven’t taken the test for yet? Colleges won’t see results of senior year APs when making decisions.

If your favorite school is Wharton, did you apply there ED? I’m not familiar with decision dates but it seems you should hear soon.

Most math peers have done the same or comparable. The difference gets made if a rec or supplemental rec talks about how much you cared about that program.

Your humanity comes through in your recommendations and how you write your essays and it needs to be sincere otherwise application readers can generally tell. The secret to showing that you are kind and caring is being kind and caring, which hopefully you are.

Also each of your schools is looking for “impact on society” in a slightly different way so customizing your essays in awareness of that also makes a difference.

That was my only prediction, because it hasn’t come out yet.

Congratulations on being a very competitive applicant. I will only address UC Berkeley in this post. Do you have college budget limitations? Since you are an OOS applicant, you will be expected to be full pay at around $67K+/year to attend.

The HAAS Business school is not a direct admit so hopefully you selected Economics on the UC application (High Demand Major) as your 1st choice.

UCB does not consider race nor SAT scores in their admission review and you need to calculate your 3 UC GPA’s: GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub

Here is the UCB admit rate using the Fully weighted UC GPA:
UCB admit by GPA

GPA L&S
3.800-4.000 6.3%
4.001-4.199 10.6%
4.200-4.399 21.8%
4.400-4.599 34.8%
4.600-4.799 40.9%
4.800-5.000 41.5%

Overall UCB should be considered a Reach school for all applicants but definitely attainable. Best of luck.
