Hi!
I am a junior and am really anxious to start the college process. I am applying to hard schools, but don’t know if I made my schedule impressive enough.
I am planning to apply to University of Michigan, University of Maryland, Boston University, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Connecticut, and Northeastern.
I currently am taking:
AP Comparative Politics
AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology
Honors English 11
Regular PreCalc
Ceramics
DH (Work with special needs kids)
I have played varsity softball since freshman year, have over 250 SSL, and have a part time job.
I have a 3.92 unweighted GPA and a 30 on the ACT.
Thanks for your input!
I think you have a shot at all of those schools.
Have you taken any foreign language?
Can you boost your ACT score? A 30 is at the low end for some of the schools on your list… Also what state do you live in? State school admission may be more challenging if you’re OOS.
They are also expensive if you are out of state. Can you afford out of state tuition? What is your home state?
I think that a 30 is really the highest I can get and was higher than I was expecting.I live in MD.
MD but I can afford out of state or am willing to do student loans if absolutely necessary
I went to spanish 4 honors and stopped my sophomore year! Also next year I will be taking honors physics, honors world, calc with apps, ap stat, ap human geo, honors english 12
You know that you can only borrow $5,500 freshman year (federal loans) and a bit more each year after that, right? Any other loans will likely require an adult cosigner.
I think you will have a hard time getting into Michigan and UNC with a 30 ACT. Do you have a couple of safeties that you KNOW you can get into and would like to attend? (I"d suggest you look at St. Mary’s College of Maryland).
I can afford out of state. Does it help that I would be applying to the science school at all of them? I don’t have high hopes for UNC but would love love love to get into Mich. Maryland and Uconn are my safeties and I will likely add a few more. thank you so much i really appreciate your help!
Umich isn’t happening with a 30 ACT it’s very competitive OOS. UNC and northeastern are also reaches due to your lower ACT score. BU looks like a good fit though. Best of luck!
