I am Sahil, currently in 12th standard and preparing for my board exams in March. I scored 9.6 CGPA in 9th, 9 c.g.p.a in 10th and 91% in class 11. I am expecting a 87+% in class 12.
Now comes the main part. I am desiring to get into Cornell and is expecting 1950+ on my SAT (i got 1790 on first try)
I can easily get 700+ on subject tests for Maths and Physics. I am aiming for Astrophysics.
The question is can i get into Cornell.
I am the finalist of the World’s largest inter school quiz, ‘Aqua Regia’, winner of many debate and quiz competition in school and many certificates for public welfare.
I’m assuming that you are taking a gap year.
1950 is not a good score for an ivy. You must aim for 2100+ to be safe.
Your CGPA and Percentage looks okayish for an ivy and so do your Extracurriculars. If you are taking a gap year then you have to add to your app a lot in terms of both academics and extracurriculars.
You gotta get that SAT up to a 2100-2200 at least. Class 12 percentage is subpar at best. My advice is, find something you’re really passionate about and work on it. Work very hard on that one thing (make sure it is science oriented) and apply to a couple of safeties (even highly qualified applicants get rejected from Cornell so I didn’t mean that as an insult)
0 shot at Cornell with just a 1950+ score. You need to have at least a 2100 to even try, imo. 9 CGPA in the 10th grade will also hurt you a lot.
Could you maybe look at other schools too that are well within your reach?
