Okay so I have this question and it feels like a very dumb one which is why i haven’t asked anyone in person but I really need an answer for it so please shed some light on the subject for me. I am currently considered a senior with 90 units (next semester I will have 103) completed and have switched majors several times, I just want to finish school so that I can begin working but i have been here for about 4 years and I do now want to drop out because I am almost done technically. I did some reading online and I read in a few forums that claim once you complete 120 units regardless of whether you completed all classes for your selected major the University can award you Liberal Arts Degree for the completion of 120 units. This interests me because I would like a college degree and don’t really care what its in I just want it as a backup plan and because I’ve completed enough credits for one. Most people tell me to just finish my current major but my current major no longer interests me and I have 52 units remaining to complete it. Also I can no longer switch majors and even if I could I do not want to switch and have to restart with another set of classes and be here for another couple years. I would greatly appreciate any input.
Typically in order to graduate one needs to complete:
– required number of credits for graduation
– requirements for major
– all distribution/core requirements
I recommend you speak to your academic advisor and determine the best plan for graduation.
I agree with @happy1. This sounds like a question for your academic advisor.
The answer to your question is specific to your college, which you did not name. But most colleges do require a major as part of the graduation requirements, though there are a few exceptions like Evergreen State.
Thank you all.
