Can I move-in before the allotted move in day of 20th September????

Hey people,

Hi I am back again, can anybody tell me if I can move into my room before 20th September. I am planning to attend the orientation session 5 that is on September 18th. I will spend night in ERC on September 17th then attend the session on 18th and then spend the day and night on campus on the 19th too. This way I don't have to return to san jose on 19th and come back with my luggage to UCSD on the 20th.

I have seen a PDF file on the UCSD housing website that says that we can get early move-in times i.e. before our college move-in day at the price of $50/day. I just want to ask you guys if my plan above can achieve some success.

Also, people who have had experience before with early move-in are highly encouraged to reply to this thread to help your buddy out.

Cheers,

I think you can move in early with the orientation right before the move in dates.

My son did the last orientation offered last year and took advantage of the early move in date. It enabled us to get him settled in his room without all the other people trying to move in at the same time. He was also able to move directly into his suite that he would be roomed in for the entire year. Very convenient, highly recommend it  However he was in Marshall so not sure if the same rules apply to the different colleges. They should have given you all the options when you sign up for orientation. Good luck!

yup that’s exactly what I’m doing. move in 17, orientation 18th. it’ll be a benfit since it’ll be less crowded, making it easier for us to move our heavy luggages.

Well, for Sixth College, our orientation is only offered September 17th-18th, and we have the option to move in early for 87 dollars on the 16th.

I haven’t signed up for orientation yet, do you guys recommend that I should then go ahead and sign up for the 18th September session given that I will be able to move in on the 17th???
