Hello all,
I am applying to schools in Europe and was wondering if it is as acceptable to round my GPA of 3.855 to 3.86. I do not want to seem dishonest, but it also makes logical sense to round it up instead of down. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will the admissions committee view this negatively?
Is there anything they specifically request? Two decimal places seems quite sufficient - .005 points really means nothing - it’s about the same as a + or - difference in one quarterly grade.
Yes, 3.56 is mathematically the correct rounding for a 3.855000…
I would be sure that it’s > 3.855. Rounding up a 3.8547 to 3.855 and then claiming that rounds to 3.86 would be needlessly providing an admissions committee a reason to downgrade an application for no reason.
