Can I send multiple supplementary material when applying to Yale (or any other college)?

I want to send a couple of extra material to Yale other than the required ones. Such as research paper, extra recommendation…Does slideroom allow such submission?

I heard you can upload an extra essay in the additional info section of common app. (the purpose of it is probably not to give a space for an extra essay, but some people use the chance) You can also upload your resume and write about your research paper. But I don’t know much about silderoom.

Yale gives specific directions and advice:

Nobody will read your research paper, so don’t submit it. If you have a paper that is ready or soon to be ready for journal publication, send an abstract; otherwise, send nothing. Submit an addition LoR only if it says something unique that was not covered in the others.

Remember, AO’s will spend 12-15 minutes reading your application. More material does not mean more reading time; it just means some other part of the app will get less attention. Often, the thicker the application, the thicker the kid. Be very judicious in what you send.

I do think adding an extra recommendation letter and a research paper will substantially add to my resume  In that case, can’t I submit both?

@supantho, DS thought long and hard about submitting an extra LoR, in this case from his mentor at a Plasma Physics Lab, because it described aspects of his nature that would not readily be seen in a classroom. In the end, he decided to submit it. He did not submit the published paper he co-authored at the lab. How this was interpreted by AOs is, of course, unknown, but it did not keep him from being accepted.

OP read what skieurope said. Yale tells you your research paper submission isn’t wanted. You say it is. I think you’re outvoted.

Was this paper published in a peer review journal? If not, then it’s just school work. And of no value to your eventual app evaluation. If you must, send a 1-2 paragraph abstract of your research paper

I think my paper is going to be published in the European Journal of Physics. I am waiting for a decision from the referees on the revised version. The initial reviews were positive and one of the reviewers directly recommended publication. So, hoping for some good news hopefully xD , fingers crossed
So @T26E4, if it does get published, shouldn’t I add it in the supplementary materials  ?

If you must, ONLY send an abstract. DO NOT send the paper.

Will it be a violation of copyright agreement if I sent the whole paper??

I’ll be a violation of common sense. YALE DOES NOT WANT TO READ YOUR WHOLE PAPER. No college does. Re-read post #2 and then do what you want. You’re exasperating.
