I had a few questions about the SAT as I approach the time for college applications. On my January 28th SAT, I scored at 1700. The score breakdown is 650 math, 530 reading, and 490 reading. That January test was taken with zero preparation, as a Junior in HS.

I've been studying since then, but really started buckling down in the last few weeks. I know it's late and I should've been better prepared, but it is what it is at this point. I'm registered to take the May SAT and am aiming (not necessarily on this test) for a 2200.

Being of an Indian ethnicity, I know in general I need to score a little higher. I've been taking practice tests where I'm scoring near a 730 in math. From other practice tests (including the ones from my Kaplan SAT course that I'm taking), I'm scoring around 650 in writing (not sure what went so wrong during my actual SAT). My critical reading still needs a ton of work because I haven't focused much on it and am around a 550 in it. Altogether, that's a 1930.

What do you guys suggest I do to prepare for the May SAT? I need tips on improving on my critical reading the most. I think I can bring my writing score up to well above a 700 by doing more practice sections (haven't done too much work on this either).

I plan on taking the Math II and World History SAT II subject tests in June. If necessary (which may likely be the case), I'll be re-taking the SAT again in the Fall along with the ACT once.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, I'm willing to work hard and put in AS MUCH time as I need to these next few months.

Thank you in advance!
