My sophomore year, I academically really messed up because of serious family issues. My first semester I received one F and one D. My second semester I got two D's. I however made up the F and one of the D's I received as they were a-g classes. One of the D's I received was an elective class I couldn't make up during the summer or school year. The other D I received was in Algebra 2 second semester, and during the summer there was no teacher willing to teach Algebra2 so I wasn't able to retake it. However, during my junior year I took trig/precalc and passed both semesters; from what I was reading on CSU websites were that since I passed a higher level math that cancels out the D I got in Algebra 2? However, does that mean I would have to take another math class my senior year to count as 3 years? My GPA weighted is a 2.79 and unweighted a 2.41, but that will raise because of the classes I took in the summer plus the senior year grades added. I know my grades are weak and I've messed up bad, but I do A LOT of community service with over 500 hours, i'm president of my schools fashion club, and I'm involved with 2 other school "clubs" ( Avid, Ib), plus I was in marching and concert band for 1 1/2 years, and jazz band for 2 years. I also have a job.

You need a minimum of 3.0 Weighted GPA ( 10th-11th grades only) to apply to a UC, so if your CSU/UC GPA is not 3.0 you will not qualify. Your Senior grades will not be seen by the time the applications are due, they only count once you are accepted and meet the requirements for your “conditional admission”. See link calculation: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

For the CSU’s there is only 4 questions in regards to EC’s and volunteering. You only input the hours you spent for all your EC’s, if you had a leadership role, if you are working (how many hours) and if your job is related to your major.
CSU acceptances are based on your UC/CSU GPA (10-11th grade) and SAT/ACT scores. An eligibility index will be calculated as follows: (CSU GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + SAT CR) or (CSU GPA x 200) + (ACT composite x10).
Here is a link for SJSU EI’s this year: http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-10079.11705.html
This will give an idea of the EI thresholds and remember SJSU is a fairly competitive CSU. Most CSU’s do not publish their EI thresholds, so it is very hard to see where you stand.

Your question regarding Math, YES you would have to take 1 more year of Math since your Algebra 2 would not be considered passing and you made up for it by passing your trig/precalc. You need 3 Math classes (with passing grades) on your transcript.

Once you have your UC/CSU GPA, SAT or ACT scores, repost so if you more information.
