Can I submit the common app for a college that I have not submitted the recs for?

Can I submit the common app for a college that I have not submitted the recs for? For example, if the school forms tab does not have a green triangle, can I still submit the common app for that institution?

ive tried. wont work for me. i hope someone figures out a way to do it though

Your school officials do not need to submit recs before you can submit the app. However, if a school requires 2 teacher recommendations, you MUST do the following:

Invite 2 teachers in your School Forms page.

Assign those teachers to your school. At the bottom of the School Forms page, use the drop down boxes to assign your teachers.

NOTE – Make sure the right school is selected on the School Forms page. This page is school specific, much like the Future Plans page…

^Thanks for the info. The only thing is, my school is using Naviance. So only my counselor can assign recommendations.

I believe you can still assign names of recommenders in the school forms section, even without emails… see if that works. If so, you might be able to move on to the next step, at least.

Ahh… Then everything needs to be done in Naviance and not within the Common App. If your counselor needs help, make sure they contact the Naviance support team.

Only my counselor can assign names, but I was still able to submit the common app even with the yellow square. Thanks guys!

Actually, if your school is using Naviance for all of the edocs, then all you need to do is start the Common Application process and the recommendations will be automatically assigned to each school as you add it to your Common App.

The only part that does not happen automatically is transcripts and SAT scores. I am sure that as a student you have access to Naviance, and you can log in and add those colleges to your list. Your counselor will then receive a prompt to complete that portion.

And of course, don’t forget to send out your SAT or ACT scores.
