How difficult would it be to switch majors from psychology b.a. to either psychology b.s. or biochem once you transfer to a UC like SB, Davis, or Riverside. I know its gonna be different depending on the school and their policies, but I just really want to know if I get accepted to these ucs as a BA psychology major, would I still be able to switch into B.A. psychology or biochem?
As long as they are in the same college (L&S, etc) and req are met it probably is fairly doable. But I’m just guessing based on other people’s experiences up here and some things I’ve read. Worse case scenario: 50-50.
I’m talking psych to psych. I don’t know about biochem. That sounds trickier.
read carefully your offer from UCSB. They no longer offer a BA in Psychology to students not already in the program. It is a BS degree and has different requirements than the BA. See https://www.psych.ucsb.edu/undergrad/psychological-brain-sciences-bs
yeah I think I already explained on another thread that psychology is no longer a major and you’ll have to apply to psychological and brain sciences for UCSB. Switching to biochem is going to be difficult cuz of the prereqs required to declare the major. You’re better off changing it while you’re still in CC and getting in as biochem/something related to that as opposed to getting in for psych and brain sciences @ UCSB and trying to change to biochem. It’d save you a lot of money and possibly time since it’s easier to get classes at a CC. Also the equivalent classes are going to most likely be much easier at a CC
