Can I switch my choice of major after applying?

I applied to USC with my first choice being the Iovine and Young academy, which I was rejected from but am still being out for consideration for my second choice (CS at Vitebri). I know acceptance to that school is very competitive so I wanted to try changing it to a major which is less impacted and would give me a better chance of getting into USC since someone said transferring between schools at USC is much easier once you’re in the school. Does anyone know some of the less impacted majors at USC and if we’re able to request a change in our choice?

I’ve heard the exact opposite when trying to switch schools at USC. I believe that changing majors WITHIN a school is very easy to do, but if you want to switch schools you have to wait to fill out a transfer form and have certain grades after your sophomore year or something like that. So no, switching from Viterbi to something like Marshall is not immmediate and just a form to fill out, but switching something like CS in Viterbi for Industrial Engineering in Viterbi is.

For later–At freshman orientation, you will be given information on changing majors and schools if that is your desire.

For now, you may still be considered for undeclared if you don’t get into Viterbi but still USC wants you.

I cannot imagine that you could switch majors at this point. You will be considered for undeclared, Viterbi majors have to list Viterbi/Engineering as a first choice major to be considered. They would let you know what you could delcare at orientation or how to do it later depending on the school.
