School A: My current institution
School B: New Institution
School C: School I want to take classes at over the summer.
Being a transient isn’t an option
So, I will be transferring this Fall to School B from School A. I want to take classes at School C over the summer. Could I transfer to school C over the summer and then immediately go to School B in the Fall? Thanks!
Why can’t you enroll at C as a transient or non-degree student? Are you an international student? Does C not enroll transient or non-degree students?
Why can’t you get that summer course at A or at B?
I can get it at B, but I won’t be at B till this Fall. School A doesn’t offer the class. I can’t be a transient due to School A policy sadly.
Do you need to enroll at C for summer?
Why does School A matter? Once you leave, their policies don’t apply to you anymore. You have your transferring transcript from them after your final course grade posts.
I would talk to School B and C, those are the schools that matter here. FWIW, you wouldn’t be a “transfer” student at C, because transferring implies long-term enrollment. You would be a visiting student, taking one class. It would fall on B and C’s policies. Ask C if they welcome visiting students, and ask B if the class would transfer.
I don’t think you can do and no any school allow as well.
If school B will accept the credit, you can take classes over the summer at other schools. Ask if there’s any paperwork you have to fill out first. If I take a summer course, my home college accepts the transcript. My college doesn’t require prior approval to take outside summer courses, but my son’s college does. He hasn’t been denied, but if he didn’t get permission they could refuse to accept the credit. So definitely ask what school B’s policies are.
Also make sure the course transfers. Our state system has an online transfer equivalency chart. Not all courses transfer between institutions. A calculus at one college may only count as precalc at another, or the credit may not transfer at all. So talk to school B before you spend money on summer courses.
Can you just arrange to start at B in the summer session?
