Hi, I am a future student who is going to attend Community College soon.
I graduated from a college with 60 credits in Canada.(GPA 3.9/4.0)
Most of credits that I earned is from practical subjects so checking what credit can be transferable to UC with agency for studying UC, We found that there is no transferable cerdit.
I decided to attend Community College and transfer to UCs but I am worry that I have too many credits(60 transferable credits, 60 non-transferable credits.)
Do they really just count transferable credit? or non-transferable credit also affects transfering to UCs?
Only transferable credit, and lower division (including all community college) non-UC credit is capped at 70 (but all courses count for subject credit), so you should not have the “too much credit” problem.
Is your family able to pay the $65K or so per year it costs to attend a UC as a non-CA resident? Need-based financial aid is not offered to non-CA residents, and attending a CA CC will not qualify you for residency. Nor is much merit aid available. It is quite difficult to establish CA residency for tuition purposes unless your parents live in CA or you graduated from a CA HS.
