Can Internationals be considered URM's applicants?

I think internationals are handled separately. URM only applies to domestic applicants, I believe, but someone please correct me.

seriously?

but what if I am an international URM? they will give some sort of consideration??

zogoto is correct

if you are from certain countries you do get "URM" like attention.

For example - if you are from India, China, Canada, Britain - you are almost like an ORM and need to have stellar stats, ECs, etc. since there are tons of applicant competing for the very few spots to get in

but then if you are from countries like Nepal, Dubai, Laos, Burma, many African countries etc. it is like being from North Dakota or Mississippi (sp), where the colleges usually will view your application preferentially to boost the # of countries represented in the student body

^^ are you saying this from knowledge of the process, or just guessing?...

fimxoxo - dont know if the question was addressed to me or to some1 else

i just went through the process and i can speak for india treated as ORM from my experience, for other countries i am guessing based on my observations during the application process + other cc'ers admission decision

Congrats on Princeton adides, your story was "magical" hehe.

"ORM/URM" status in international admissions is determined solely by current nation of residence. Am I correct? Ethnicity is disregarded right?

hogwash, I'm afraid

huh? to what are you refering to as hogwash Byerly?

:)

thx rexer ;)

Nice debating with Byerly there adides . He just left the discussion lol, no offense to him :). His posts are very helpful but always Harvard-related... Its kind of depressing to think that all of his Harvard undergrad stories/appraisal were based upon his experiences in SSP if so j/k :p. Oh well he did go to Harvard for grad. Please keep up the good work!

EDIT- haha I started that thread (the link)! I thought the link was about your debate with Byerly!
