I recently won the Army ROTC scholarship, which would cover full tuition to USF. However, I already received the Presidential Scholarship and Honors College scholarship, which total $12,500 per year.

Is it feasible for me to use the ROTC scholarship for tuition and my others for Room and Board?

Also, when does the housing application open? Thanks!

The way USF handles scholarships is that everything goes into a big “pot”. This “pot” is your OASIS account. Everything that is put into that “pot” is payed towards tuition and fees, housing, and meal plan, in that order, and then whatever is left: books, etc. is paid. Therefore, your scholarship money goes towards whatever you’re charged. When everything is paid for, you get a refund.

You can use your USF scholarships for anything because of the way they handle funds. Specifically for you, your scholarship will be put towards your room and board. You will know that. USF will not. They will simply see that you have enough to pay for housing and deduct according from your OASIS account.

Thanks for clearing that up Niquii. A couple more questions about USF in general:

1) How hard is it to change majors at USF? If I was accepted into Biology, would it be very difficult to change it to Business before next Fall?

2) Everyone seems to be avoiding this, but: WHEN DOES THE HOUSING APPLICATION OPEN? :)

1) It’s pretty easy. You get a chance to change majors later in the year. They send out some forms for you to fill out by email. I believe one of them asks for your intended major. You get another chance to change it during orientation. Once you’re a registered student, you fill out a form and give it to your advisor.

2)I have no clue. They should inform you guys sometime in the near future. I don’t remember how I found out the housing opening date or where I found out…
