can non-sci. premeds do research?

If you're a non-sci. premed, would you have chances/credentials to get some research opportunities (and if you're good at math/sci)? Or would the research ppl. only select science premeds for research?

If you are premed, then you definitely have to take science classes so you'll definitely get to know the science department profs so if you got to know them why not just ask them if they can give you a research op or hook you up with someone who can?

I would much rather hire a science major with significant coursework in biology/chem/whatever to do research for me than some English major who is doing research to get into med school. If you are an English major with a good science background, then that's a different story.

I've met many professors who refuse to hire premeds, period. They would much rather take students planning on grad school.

Your research doesn't necessarily have to be in a hard-science area. It could be with the psychology dept. Hopefully, your school will help premeds in their search for opportunities.

I am planning to major in psychology, and I'm doing orthopaedic research this summer. Is it weird that a psych major does orthopaedic research involving biochemistry?
