can people get in georgetown with low sat scores?

im applying to their nhs school, but with a horrible CR score (570). but obviously i can read and write. i write for my schools newspaper, got a journalism scholarship and can speak 3 other languages (bengali, arabic, spanish). this is the iffiest part of my app... and by looking at the EA deferrees, im really concerned that i have no chance at this point. any additional thoughts anyone? thanks

oh yeah, here are my other scores...
710 math, 630 writing, 570 cr (1910)
700 chem, 710 us history, 660 math i

Im in a similar situation. My math score isnt too great, but im hoping that my grades, ecs and other stuff will outweigh it. I think that if u present a very strong app, and emphasize ur ecs (the newspaper and journalism) then u have a shot.

I'm also applying to NHS by the way.

yeahh, but im wondering if theyll look at my score and be like "daayyam-- rejection"

Well I don't know about that. There are other parts of your app they have to take into account. The only way to find out is to apply. Good luck!

Well I got in EA to the College (faculty of language and linguistics) with a score of 1860.
580V, 660M, 620CR
660 Math IIC, 760 Spanish

But it probably helped that I was applying to the language branch and that I took AP Spanish Lit last year and am now in AP French language. But besides my low test scores I had high grades (4.44w and 3.9uw) and good ec and community service. So I guess it just depends on the rest of your app.

well...are you a minority/at a catholic high school/from alaska?

don't worry about it, my math score is 610, pale in comparison to your's.surprisingly, georgetown SAT score ranges aren't that whacked out

im a minority from a catholic high school..but not in alaska.

lol i dont think being catholic will help me much tho.

if youre from a catholic high school, it helps A TON

and since youre a minority...dont worry too much.

r u serious? I thought they didnt care about religious affiliation?

why would being from a catholic high school matter a lot?

they dont really care about affiliation...but they really help out catholic high schools.

i'm hoping to get in with my 550v 540m, tell u if i did in april....

They wouldn't reject you for one criterion (ie: SATs) but obviously, they would give higher scorers a greater consideration.

Gtown college has lower average scores than SFS, if that matters.

Your scores are pretty good though, I wouldn't worry too much since everything else looks good (especially the tri-lingual part).

Actually, it is impossible to get in with low scores. I called the office the other day and I was like, "Yo, can I get in with low scores?" They were like, "Sorry man." So yeah. Nobody has ever gotten in with low scores, they said. Tough luck. You are probably wondering about the previous posters who claimed that they got in with low scores. They are obviously lying because I am always right.

haha, for a sec i thought u were serious.

that blatantly obvious sarcasm was pretty sweet.
