Can Prospective Transfer Students Sit in on Classes

I'd very much like to get a better idea of what classes at Columbia University are like, as I am quite interested in transferring. I'd like to prove this interest and validate it.

Can prospective transfer students who wish to enter the class of 2017 sit in on classes? I would like to better understand the dynamics in the core classes while also building a similar understanding about the particular programs that interest me. Of course I've visited the website and conducted extensive research, but sitting in on a class or two, and getting to know professors and other people at the university would help.
Transportation is not a concern.

I'm also wondering how else I can show Columbia how much I desire to attend. A couple issues with my original applications may have hurt my chances (regular decision because my tastes changed midway through the application process, I had less of an idea of what I wanted to study, my Math SAT was below 700 and I didn't send my ACT in which I scored highest on the math section, I took AP Calculus AB and scored a 5 but Columbia couldn't see it).

I plan on taking required courses and Calculus II this semester (the last of which I hope won't murder me).

I realize that I can’t sit in on core classes, but I’m still interested in sitting in on, perhaps, a mathematics class

Also, I assume that one cannot request a transfer student interview since they are usually unavailable, but I’d just like to make sure.

Many people are beginning their undergraduate studies today, but I hope to receive a response or a few as soon as possible. Thanks.

No one is gonna check your ID at the door. If it’s a larger lecture class, no one will care. If it’s a smaller class, email the instructor beforehand – or speak with her/him at the beginning of class. What you’re asking is really NO big deal.

Okay thanks. It looks like I’ll be able to sit in on a class or two.

Do you have any advice for transfer applicants?

I am still engaged in my hobbies and am trying to get involved in programs. The question is how to demonstrate my desire to attend Columbia. (beyond just visiting, mailing lists, etc.)
